From side bend to 3D bend — learn how to choose the right LED neon flex for signage, architectural lighting, and decoration.
LED neon flex — also called neon LED strip light or flexible neon light — is one of the most versatile lighting products of the past decade. It combines a high-density LED tape with a durable, translucent silicone sheath, producing a smooth, continuous line of light that can be bent into almost any shape.
Unlike traditional glass neon, LED neon flex is unbreakable, energy-efficient, and easy to install. Unlike bare LED strip lights, it offers higher waterproof ratings (up to IP68), dot-free uniform light, and no need for aluminum profiles in most applications.
This guide explains the three main bending series — horizontal bending, vertical bending, and 3D bending — with dimension charts, so you can match the right neon flex to your project.

What Is LED Neon Flex?
An LED neon flex light is made of three parts: an LED light strip, a silicone sheath, and connecting wires. The LED tape is encapsulated by a two-color or three-color silicone profile through an integrated extrusion process, creating a seamless tube of light.

Why use LED neon flex instead of LED strip lights?
IP65 / IP67 / IP68 ratings suit indoor and outdoor use.
Continuous glowing line, no visible LED dots.
Minimum bending diameter from ~60mm; cut every meter at marked lines.
Acid/alkali resistant, corrosion resistant and flame retardant silicone.
Replaces aluminum trough installation for most decorative projects.
Little to no maintenance once installed.
Horizontal Bending Series (Side Bend)
In a horizontal bending (side bend) neon flex, the LED light emits from the side face of the profile. This series is the most popular choice for sign lettering, logos, and edge-lit graphics, because the light source can be hidden behind the sign while the glow outlines the shape.
Horizontal Bending Series — Dimensions
| Người mẫu | Width (mm) | Height (mm) | Sử dụng điển hình |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0308 | 8 | 3 | Ultra-slim lettering |
| 0408 | 8 | 4 | Sign channels |
| 0410 | 10 | 4 | Sign channels |
| 0612 | 12 | 6 | Logos & outlines |
| 0816 | 16 | 8 | Large signage |
| 1018 | 18 | 10 | Large signage |
| 1220 | 20 | 12 | High-brightness signs |
| 1225 | 25 | 12 | Channel letters, premium |

0308 — 8x3mm

0612 — 12x6mm

1220 — 20x12mm
Bending rule: for side-bend neon, keep the bending diameter larger than 300mm when bending flat against the sign face — tighter curves can kink the light path. Vertical (up-and-down) bending is not supported in this series.
Vertical Bending Series (Top Bend)
A vertical bending (top bend) neon flex emits light from the top face, and is designed to bend upward or downward. It is the go-to choice for architectural lines, ceiling coves, wall contours, and furniture lighting, where a smooth flowing curve is needed in the vertical plane.
Vertical Bending Series — Dimensions
| Người mẫu | Width (mm) | Height (mm) | Sử dụng điển hình |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0606 | 6 | 6 | Mini cove & accent |
| 1010 | 10 | 10 | Standard cove light |
| 1307 | 7 | 13 | Architectural lines |
| 1616 | 16 | 16 | General architectural |
| 1620 | 20 | 16 | High-output lines |
| 2020 | 20 | 20 | Outdoor outlines |
| 2525 | 25 | 25 | Heavy-duty signage |
| 3017 DMX | 17 | 30 | DMX digital effects |

0606 — 6x6mm

1616 — 16x16mm

2020 — 20x20mm
Bending rule: top-bend neon allows tighter curves than side bend — keep the bending diameter larger than 100mm in the vertical plane.
3D Bending Series
The 3D bending series combines the flexibility of both planes: it can bend upward, downward, sideways, and even twist, making it the best choice for free-form decorative shapes, custom art, complex logos, and architectural installations that curve in multiple directions at once.

Bending rules: top bend Φ>100mm, side bend Φ>300mm

0808 — 8x8mm
3D Bending & Round Series — Dimensions

| 1010 3D | 10x10mm square | Flexible logos |
| 1618 3D | 16x18mm | Large 3D designs |

LED Neon Flex Applications
LED neon flex adapts to almost any surface — flat, curved, or complex. Here are six of the most common application scenarios, showing how a continuous glowing line transforms spaces:

Signage & Channel Letters
Side-bend neon is the industry standard for shop signs and logos — it creates sharp, evenly lit letterforms that stay bright for years, indoors or outdoors.

Architectural Cove & Ceiling Lines
Top-bend neon installed in coves or recesses produces a seamless glowing line around the room — the go-to choice for hotels, offices, and premium homes.

Facade & Building Outlines
IP67/IP68 neon flex traces rooflines, columns, and window frames to give buildings a modern night identity with minimal energy consumption.

Retail Display & Shelving
Installed under shelves, racks, and counters, neon flex adds a premium accent that makes products stand out without harsh glare.

Staircase & Step Lighting
Mounted under stair nosing, neon flex guides movement at night and adds a stylish, hotel-like atmosphere to homes and commercial spaces.

Garden, Path & Landscape
Waterproof neon flex outlines paths, flower beds, and decks, creating inviting outdoor spaces that are safe to walk at night.
LED Neon Flex Installation Guide
Installing LED neon flex is a simple DIY process. Follow these six steps — each one is illustrated below so you can see exactly what to do:

Step 1 — Measure & Mark
Measure the length you need with a tape measure and mark the cutting position with a pencil. Cut lines are printed on the neon flex every meter — always cut exactly on a marked line.

Step 2 — Cut to Length
Use sharp scissors to cut the neon flex at the marked line. A clean, straight cut at the printed cut point keeps the silicone edge neat and ready for sealing.

Step 3 — Attach Mounting Clips
Clip the aluminum mounting clips onto the back of the neon flex every 30–50cm, then screw or glue the clips to the wall, ceiling, or sign surface.

Step 4 — Connect the Power Cable
Match the DC power cable to the neon flex wires (same polarity) and secure the connection with the terminal block or a solderless LED connector. Use a matched power supply for the correct voltage.

Step 5 — Seal the Cut End
Push the end cap onto the cut end and seal it with the provided silicone glue. This restores the IP rating, protecting the exposed end from dust and moisture.

Step 6 — Power On & Test
Switch on the power and check for even brightness along the full length. If any section looks dim or dark, re-check the polarity of that connection before final mounting.

LED Neon Flex FAQ
What is the minimum bending diameter of LED neon flex?
For side-bend neon, keep the bending diameter above 300mm; for top-bend neon, above 100mm. 3D-bendable neon can curve in multiple directions, but avoid sharp kinks at the cut points.
Can LED neon flex be cut to length?
Yes. Cut lines are printed every 1 meter. Cut at the marked point with scissors, then re-seal the end with the provided end cap and glue for waterproofing.
Is LED neon flex waterproof?
Yes — IP65, IP67 and IP68 versions are available. IP68 neon can even be installed under water for pools and fountains.
Does LED neon flex need an aluminum profile?
No. Unlike bare LED strips, neon flex is already encapsulated in silicone and can be mounted directly with mounting clips, glue, or bendable mounting tracks.
What is the difference between side bend and top bend neon?
Side bend (horizontal bending) emits light from the side face — best for sign lettering and logos. Top bend (vertical bending) emits light from the top face and bends up/down — best for architectural lines and coves.
How long do LED neon flex lights last?
With quality SMD LEDs and premium silicone, our neon flex is rated for a long lifespan and backed by strict aging tests before delivery.
