When an airport terminal renovation called for a ceiling that felt more like a luxury lounge than a transit hub, the lighting had to do the heavy lifting. This project — a major regional airport departure hall — combined custom curved LED linear lights s straight-run extrusion profiles to follow a dramatic, wave-like wooden ceiling design. Every light was manufactured to order, bent on site, and tuned to a warm 3000K that makes passengers feel welcome.

The terminal covers multiple zones: a grand main hall with sweeping curved lines, a departure gate waiting area with long straight runs, a retail and duty-free concourse, and back-of-house service corridors. The architect’s design required the lighting to trace the ceiling’s geometry exactly — no standard off-the-shelf fixture could achieve the tight curves and long uninterrupted runs.

Main Terminal Hall — The Curved Feature
The centerpiece is the main hall ceiling. Custom-bent linear lights sweep in long, graceful waves across a warm wood-slatted ceiling, drawing the eye toward the gates. The curves are not soft approximations — each run was bent to the exact radius specified by the architect, using our custom LED linear light extrusion system with flexible PC diffusers that maintain uniform glow even on tight turns.

Departure & Gate Waiting Areas
Beyond the feature ceiling, the gate lounges use long, straight runs of linear light recessed into wood slat ceilings. These provide consistent, shadow-free illumination over the seating areas — important for reading, working, and comfort during long layovers. The same extrusion system used for the curved feature was used here, keeping the design language consistent throughout the terminal.

Retail & Duty-Free Concourse
The retail zone needed lighting that feels premium without competing with the merchandise. The curved linear lights here follow the ceiling’s organic shape, creating a shopping-mall atmosphere rather than a utilitarian transit feel. Warm 3000K light makes products look their best while maintaining clear visibility for signage.

Back-of-House & Service Corridors
Behind the scenes, service corridors use recessed straight linear lights in metal slat ceilings. These prioritize function: even brightness, easy maintenance, and long life in high-use areas. The same aluminum extrusion profiles used in public areas appear here, demonstrating the product’s versatility across both architectural and utilitarian spaces.
